The Mirror Design Process

Like our frames for works of art, our mirror frames are each handcrafted one at a time with great care and attention to detail. While we will happily make a mirror, in any size, from any one of our Studio Frames and from our selection of Mirror Frames, we can also work with you to design an entirely unique mirror to your specifications.

In the mirror design process, we are happy to work with both private clients and interior designers.

We work with all of the karat weights of white and yellow gold, silver, and palladium; can create any number of painted and/or toned finishes; and are adept at a variety of surface treatments including carving, sgraffito, pastiglia, and granito. We also have access to a wide assortment of moulding profiles ranging from simple and modern to detailed and traditional.

Following are a few items one might consider when looking to design a one-of-a-kind mirror frame for a particular interior space:
            Wall color, pattern, and/or texture
            Furniture details and scale
            Accessory details and scale
            Fixture details and scale
            Floor covering(s)
            Overall style of the space
Overall size and scale of the space
Item(s) potentially reflected in the mirror

      Examples:

Inspiration: Wrought iron sconces for a powder room in a private home.
Mirror Design: The design of the wrought iron was reminiscent of a stylized, three dimensional fleur de lis. After giving this some consideration, we decided to use this swirling fleur de lis motif in a painted application in the panel of the mirror frame.

Inspiration: Brushed nickel bathroom fixtures and soft red accent pieces for boutique hotel suites.
Mirror Design: Palladium leaf was used over red bole on a very simple, modern profile with a beveled mirror. Two mirrors were used side-by-side over the vanity in each room.
