Traditional Water Gilding Class
In this workshop, taught by frame-maker, Peter Miller in his Woodbury, CT studio, students will learn about the materials, tools and techniques required for traditional water-gilding. Students will learn how to make and apply glue, gesso and bole. Each student will then
practice the skills required to properly surface those materials as preparation to apply real gold leaf. Handling and transferring gold leaf from book to surface will be taught as well as burnishing and simple toning techniques.With the completion of this intensive study
and exploration, the student will come away with not only a gilded frame, but also a comprehensive working understanding of the process. A field trip to some of the antique shops in Woodbury may be offered to explore gilded surfaces. Inns and B & B's are conveniently located with in 2 miles of the studio.

The Waterford Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit
The P.H. Miller Studio will be exhibiting our Handmade frames and demonstrating the frame-making process, including wood carving and gilding at the Waterford, Virginia Homes Tour and Crafts Exhibit.
This a juried exhibit of fine artisans from across the country. The event draws 30,000 visitors over the three day weekend from the Washington, DC area and beyond. We hope to see you there!
